Além do marketing e do proselitismo

In addition to marketing and proselytizing
The challenge of reversing climate change, protect the environment, ensure food production and supply of energy to move the world economy and attitudes requires increasingly responsible companies from all sectors. Thus, it has more value and recognize organizations that strive for clean production, rational use of water and electricity, awareness of its human resources to a citizen attitude towards society and the planet and other practices inherent in the concept of sustainability.
Given the importance of corporate behavior, it is reasonable and fair that companies are governed by political behavior, social and eco-friendly incorporating their actions in this field to their marketing strategies and institutional communication. This is a useful initiative for everyone, including the effect of stimulating the proliferation of sustainable projects. On the other hand, it is wrong to make the speech and invest in advertising when you do not have anything concrete. Rhetoric does not despolui not sequester carbon from the atmosphere and, what is worse, does not convince everyone all the time.
The message was very clear in the statement of the Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon during the recent “‘KPMG Summit: Business Perspective for Sustainable Growth” event in New York (USA). On occasion, the international leader encouraged the corporate world to embrace the principle of sustainability, saying that with the majority of ecosystems in decline, the deep social inequality and climate change, global prosperity and stability are at risk.
Noting that “sustainability must be incorporated into the DNA of the culture of business and investment”, Ban praised the membership of almost seven thousand companies in 140 countries, the Global Compact, a United Nations initiative to encourage responsible practices. However, he criticized the fact that many companies limit their sustainability efforts to programs that never take off and / or mere public relations strategies.
The relevance of the issue and the need to increase the number of organizations actually responsible to the planet and the future give meaning to the unique Corporate Sustainability Forum to be held in the Rio +20, held next June in Rio de Janeiro. It will be a great opportunity for companies to engage in a definitive and fullest on the assumptions contained in the three pillars of UN major event: the economic, social and environmental.
The more the theme of the speeches out of the plane and turn into practical action by governments, companies and citizens will better the world, not only in terms of quality of life, but also in the reversal of the crisis. After all, it will be increasingly difficult to ensure economic growth amid a ravaged environment, crowds of miserable and depleted natural resources. Each one of us – individuals and corporations – do your part to prevent such tomorrow. It builds the future with a few wise words and lots of action!
