As pequenas e médias empresas estão amparadas pela lei para pagar impostos em um sistema especial, chamado Simples Nacional (ou Regime Especial Unificado de Arrecadação de Tributos e Contribuições devidos pelas Microempresas e Empresas de Pequeno Porte).
Neste regime, as empresas que possuem faturamento inferior a 3,6 milhões reais por ano poderão recolher unificadamente os seguintes impostos: Imposto sobre a Renda da Pessoa Jurídica (IRPJ), Imposto sobre Produtos Industrializados (IPI), Contribuição Social sobre o Lucro Líquido (CSLL), Contribuição para o Financiamento da Seguridade Social (COFINS), Contribuição para o PIS/Pasep, Imposto sobre Serviços de Qualquer Natureza (ISS) e Imposto sobre Operações Relativas à Circulação de Mercadorias e Sobre Prestações de Serviços de Transporte Interestadual e Intermunicipal e de Comunicação (ICMS).
Além disso, o Simples inclui ainda a Contribuição Patronal Previdenciária (CPP) para a Seguridade Social, a cargo da pessoa jurídica, exceto no caso das microempresas e das empresas de pequeno porte que se dedicam às atividades de construção de imóveis e obras de engenharia em geral, inclusive sob a forma de subempreitada, execução de projetos e serviços de paisagismo, bem como decoração de interiores, e serviço de vigilância, limpeza ou conservação.
Ou seja, todos os tributos acima identificados serão calculados tomando-se por base o faturamento mensal auferido pela empresa. Sendo que para o PIS e para a COFINS, quando estivermos diante de uma prestação de serviços, existe também a obrigatoriedade de retenção pelo tomador do serviço da CSLL, da COFINS e do PIS sobre o valor dos serviços contratados, quando o valor contratado for superior a 5 mil reais, mediante a aplicação, sobre o montante a ser pago, do percentual de 4,65%, correspondente à soma das alíquotas de 1%, 3% e 0,65%, respectivamente. Este valor deve ser destacado na nota fiscal eletrônica de serviços emitida pela prestador.
No caso de o tomador do serviço for uma sociedade também enquadrada no Simples Nacional, não haverá a obrigatoriedade da retenção.

What are the main information about National Simple?
Small and medium enterprises are protected by law to pay taxes on a special system, called National Simple (or the Special Unified Collection of Taxes and contributions payable by Micro and Small Enterprises).
In this regime, companies that have revenues of less than 3.6 million reais per year single-pointedly may collect the following taxes: Income Tax of Legal Entities (Income Tax), Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI), Social Contribution on Net Income ( Social Contribution), Contribution to Social Security Financing (COFINS), PIS / Pasep Services Tax (ISS) and Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Supply of Services About Interstate and Area Transportation and (ICMS).
Furthermore, the single also includes Employer’s Contribution to Social Security (CPP) for Social Security, in charge of the corporation, except in the case of micro and small businesses that are dedicated to the construction activities of buildings and engineering works general, including in the form of subcontracting, project execution and landscaping services as well as interior decoration and security service, cleaning or repair.
All taxes identified above are calculated by taking as basis the monthly billing earned by the company. Since the PIS and COFINS, when faced with the provision of services, there is also the requirement to withhold the policyholder service social contribution, PIS and COFINS on the value of the contracted services when the contract value exceeds the 5000 actual, by applying, to the amount to be paid, the percentage of 4.65%, corresponding to the sum of the rates of 1%, 3% and 0.65%, respectively. This value should be highlighted in the electronic invoice issued by the service provider.
